Article Icon 1Homebuyers Will Soon Have Access to Neighbors' Political Leanings

A new real estate platform developed by Tech startup Oyssey allows buyers to see the political affiliations of their potential neighbors and how many dogs may be living on their block.

Soft launching this month in South Florida and New York City, the platform enables buyers to search for homes, streamline contract negotiations, and access block-by-block consumer and political data.

Oyssey developed the platform after a recent class-action lawsuit settlement against the National Association of Realtors. The settlement required buyers to sign contracts with agents to tour homes and negotiate commission payments.

The company claims that social data—such as age, education, and income demographics—is believed to influence buyers more than a home's physical features.

Article Icon 1Record Travel Expected This Holiday

According to AAA, a record 7.1 million Floridians—a 3% increase from last year—are expected to travel more than 50 miles during the end-of-year holiday period that runs from Dec. 21 through New Year's Day.

The auto club estimates that 90% of travelers will drive to their destinations, but record air travel is also predicted.

The busiest day on the roads is projected to be Dec. 22. A spokesman for AAA said that four of the top five domestic travel destinations this holiday season are in Florida, so travelers should be prepared for crowded roads and airports.

Article Icon 1Florida Native Wins Heisman Trophy

Boynton Beach's own Travis Hunter won the Heisman Trophy on Saturday. Hunter plays wide receiver and cornerback for the Colorado Buffaloes.

Hunter received 552 first-place votes and 2,231 points in a comfortable victory. Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty was the runner-up with 309 first-place votes and 2,017 points.

Miami quarterback Cam Ward finished fourth in the balloting for the 90th Heisman Trophy. Hunter's win marked only the fifth time this century that a non-quarterback has won the award.

Hunter gave an emotional acceptance speech, saying, "I want to say something to my father. Dad, I love you. For all the stuff you went through, man. Now look at your oldest son. I did it for you, man."
