| Gov. Lee Backs Trump's Mass Deportation Plans Gov. Bill Lee, alongside 25 other Republican governors, has signed a letter pledging to "utilize every tool" available, including potentially deploying state law enforcement or the National Guard, to support President-elect Trump's plans for mass deportations. With 26 governors pledging their cooperation, Trump has secured support from the majority of U.S. states. The Republican Governors Association pledged to help remove "illegal immigrants who pose a threat to our communities and national security" as well as "dangerous criminals, gang members, and terrorists." Mass deportations could face significant procedural challenges and come with a steep estimated cost of $150 billion to $350 billion, with Lee seeking more information from the incoming Trump administration before making specific commitments. | TN Police Officer Dies in Line of Duty A police officer and a suspect were killed in a shooting on Saturday afternoon in McNairy County, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI). On Sunday, Selmer Police identified the fallen officer as Rick Finley. Finley was a part-time officer with the Selmer Police Department and a full-time deputy with the McNairy County Sheriff's Office. The suspect, identified as 39-year-old Daniel Holmes, was involved in the incident that began shortly after 3 p.m. when Selmer officers responded to reports of a "suspicious person" outside a residence on New Bethel Road. According to TBI, Holmes opened fire on one of the officers, fatally wounding Finley. A second officer arrived on the scene and returned fire, killing Holmes. | Cleveland Family Honors Son with License Plate A Cleveland family is remembering their son, who died of cancer, through a special license plate initiative. Grayson Moser, who was diagnosed with brain cancer, passed away at the age of 16. In his memory, his mother, Gloria, founded the Grayson Foundation and collaborated with the American Childhood Cancer Organization to launch a childhood cancer awareness license plate in Tennessee. "This is for anyone who has a heart for kids who have battled. It means so much to families that have gone through this to see gold ribbons on cars," Gloria said. To bring the initiative to life, 1,000 plates must be ordered by June 30, 2025. | |
