A concealed blade inside a woman’s cane was recently confiscated at Denver International Airport (DIA).

The cane, which contained a sword, was carried by a 91-year-old traveler and was detected during X-ray screening at a security checkpoint. See a photo here.

A TSA spokesperson noted that many travelers are unaware they are carrying such prohibited items. Objects like cane swords, often bought at flea markets, may seem harmless but are flagged during security screenings.

DIA is among the top 10 airports nationwide for firearm interceptions, highlighting the importance of screening all travelers and their belongings to maintain safety.
