The ONE food that’s a far better deal at Walmart

Hi reader,

Earlier this week I shared with you the results of a side-by-side shopping comparison between Walmart and ALDI and told you I'd share what was the better deal at Walmart. Well here you go!

  • Organic whole chicken

Yes, you are reading that right - it's a list of just one item!

Granted, I only price checked the items that were on my shopping list and there are TONS of foods I'd be curious which store had the better deal on… foods like:

  • Ground beef
  • Milk
  • Diced tomatoes
  • Coconut oil
  • Olive oil
  • Flour
  • Sugar
  • Pasta
  • Chocolate chips
  • Almond milk
  • Yogurt
  • Frozen fruit
  • Frozen vegetables

And while only one item was cheaper at Walmart, it was considerably less than ALDI - $1.01 per pound. Considering the average whole chicken weighs about 5 lbs, you're saving $5.05 every week just by shopping at Walmart (compare that to $7.37 by shopping at ALDI for several foods).

I did check a few other foods, but the price was either exactly the same or negligible difference (10¢ or less):

  • Coffee
  • Green bell peppers
  • Eggs
  • Garbanzo beans
  • Kombucha
  • Fresh green beans
  • Avocado
  • Organic spring mix

Personally, I'd prioritize shopping at ALDI first, then swinging by Walmart to get the things I know for a fact are less expensive there. I'd check the sales ads for the items that could swing either way to know which store to pick them up at.

Here is a list of some of my favorite finds at ALDI and the best way to shop the store. It's set up a little differently than most grocery stores so if you give it a shot, be prepared!

What about you - do you prefer to shop at Walmart or ALDI? Hit "reply" and tell me what store you like and what's on your typical shopping list!
