Puerto Rico territorial profile on the Census Data Platform

Latest System Updates

  • Fixes to 13 defects

The primary feature of the release is the addition of Geography Profiles for Puerto Rico geographies. The profiles provide a collection of the most popular data from the Census Bureau in an easily digestible and visual format. With this release, they are now available for Puerto Rico and its municipios, zonas urbanas comunidades, barrios, barrios-pueblo, and other subdivision areas.

Access these profiles with two easy steps:

  • Run a search for a single supported geography
  • Click the map of the geography on the right side of the 'All' Results page

You will also notice improved functionality when using the single search bar to search for partial labels of detailed population groups and North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) keywords. For example, a search for "day cares" will find the matching filter for "624410: Child day care services" without having to type the full label.

And finally, we applied technical updates to simplify our process to provide you with default table views that have been customized for easy viewing. This step helps us work towards providing you with more data tables from the Population Estimates Program in future releases.

How Can I Match the GEOID from data.census.gov with the GEOID from the TIGER/Line Shapefiles?

Geography IDs in data.census.gov downloads contain nine extra characters in the beginning. This provides details that identify the summary level, geographic variant, and geographic component.
