Want to learn about how small business vaccine requirements for employees vary by state based on new data from the Small Business Pulse Survey? Check out an upcoming story in the Census Bureau's America Counts content hub next week!

Based on responses collected May 31 through June 6, the Small Business Pulse Survey estimates that:

  • 10.1% of U.S. small businesses experienced a decrease in the total number of hours worked by paid employees in the last week. For responses collected 5/10/20 – 5/16/20, this statistic was 36.6%

  • 32.1% of U.S. small businesses believe that more than 6 months will pass before their business is back to normal. For responses collected 5/24 – 5/30, this statistic was 33.0%

  • 11.1% of U.S. small businesses experienced production delays at their business in the last week. For responses collected 5/24 – 5/30, this statistic was 12.0%

  • 11.8% of U.S. Accommodation and Food Services small businesses received financial assistance from the Restaurant Revitalization Fund since December 27, 2020

  • 61.4% of U.S. Manufacturing small businesses experienced domestic supplier delays in the last week. The national average for this statistic was 36.3%

  • The Overall Sentiment Index, which assesses the overall average effect of the pandemic on businesses, increased to -0.42, indicating a less negative sentiment
