And there are few things better than coming home after a long hot day in the sun to a hearty yet refreshing salad! These salad recipes are perfect for summer cookouts and easy family dinners, and are some of the best ways to use the season's delicious fruits and veggies.

1. People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry: Last summer, Emily Henry's Beach Read was one of the hottest books out there. This summer, the author is at it again, this time with a novel called People We Meet on Vacation, which is on track to be the most popular book of the season. You won't want to be left out of the loop on this one, which tells the story of an unlikely pair of friends who just might find love with each other on a summer trip.
2. That Summer: A Novel by Jennifer Weiner: That Summer follows heroine Daisy Shoemaker, who has a busy cooking business and a full family life (I feel this so hard!) and is still trying to figure out why she's not totally happy. When she starts receiving emails meant for a woman named Diana Starling, she just might find the answers she's looking for.
3. Malibu Rising: A Novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid: Between the surf-y, summery cover and the California setting, Malibu Rising really is perfect for this time of year. Pick it up to be transported to Malibu in the early '80s, where one star-studded party has the potential to turn the glamorous Riva family upside down.
