The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy's (BEIS's) Offshore Petroleum Regulator for Environment & Decommissioning unit (OPRED) work in partnership as the regulatory authority to undertake related functions such as accepting, assessing, approving and/or inspecting relevant Safety Cases, Oil Pollution Emergency Plans, Well Notifications and other notifications. In March this year the Offshore Competent Authority, issued a survey to industry to gain a better understanding of how you as our stakeholders evaluate our performance in delivering the Government commitments. The feedback provided has been of immense value and we want to provide an update regarding the next steps we will take. Whilst we are encouraged by the survey findings you have flagged up areas where you consider improvements are needed. We will now set up a task and finish group to dig deeper into the survey detail. This task and finish group will put forward proposals for steps we will want to consider to further improve on our performance. We will communicate via various means the progressive steps we take. NOTE: as previously advised OSDR has new branding we needed to remove the reference to the Directive in our 'branding' as we are no longer a member of the European Union. There is no change to our legal obligations and regulatory arrangements. Our partnership activities will now fall under new branding, the Offshore Major Accident Regulator (OMAR). |
