Hi ,
The first time I see strawberries at the farmers market each summer, I can barely contain my excitement. They're
- sweet,
- juicy,
- a little tart,
- and a gorgeous ruby red.
To me, they're a sign that summer is really here, and I just can't get enough of them.
My Strawberry Recipe Bucket List
Full disclosure: it's hard to improve on a really fresh summer strawberry. If you don't feel like cooking, devour them plain!
BUT there are a handful of strawberry recipes that I love making each year. They include
- baked goods,
- breakfast treats,
- and even a savory salad.
If you score some peak-season berries in the next couple of weeks, give one a try! With these recipes, you really can't go wrong.
strawberry shortcake
Lemon cornmeal biscuits sandwich fresh strawberries and whipped cream. Not a whipped cream person? Coconut cream, ice cream, or Greek yogurt is great here too.

strawberry Muffins
Moist, tender, and warmly spiced with cinnamon, these muffins are so delicious that I'd happily eat one for breakfast every morning.

Strawberry Salad
My early summer version of a classic Caprese Salad. A tangy balsamic reduction contrasts beautifully with the sweet berries.

strawberry Banana Smoothie
If you make this recipe with berries from the farmers market like I do, be sure to freeze them ahead of time. That way, the smoothie will be extra-frosty and refreshing.

strawberry rhubarb bars
These oat-y, nutty bars make an excellent dessert, but they could pass as breakfast or a snack, too. The crumble crust and topping are made with wholesome ingredients like oats, walnuts, almond flour, and ground flaxseed.
