The following GAIN reports were released on Friday, June 4, 2021.

_______

Australia: Retail Foods

Health, wellness, and the environment continue to be key purchasing factors for Australian consumers. Portion sizes are increasingly important as consumers want quality over quantity, and they expect packaging to be informative and environmentally responsible. The value of food and liquor retailing in Australia rose by five percent in 2020 to A$191 billion (US$133 billion). Supermarket and grocery expenditures continue to account for the bulk of food retailing purchases with a share of 66 percent. The United States accounted for US$1.2 billion (12 percent) of Australia's total food related imports in 2020. Despite the effects of COVID-19, Australia's economy is recovering relatively quickly, and GDP growth has already returned to pre-COVID levels. The market remains an excellent opportunity for U.S. exporters.

Mexico: Tomato Annual

Tomato production in Mexico is forecasted to recover slightly from last year, on more stable weather and sufficient rainfall levels in Sinaloa, the top producing state. However, ongoing drought conditions throughout the country will provide some uncertainty to final production levels. The reopening of the restaurant and hotel industry in the United States and Mexico, the certainty provided to producers by the newly renegotiated U.S.- Mexico Tomato Suspension Agreement, and good export prices has encouraged more tomato planting. Production under protected agriculture systems continues to grow as it provides for higher yields and quality.

Singapore: Food Processing Ingredients

Most raw materials for food processing are imported into Singapore due to its limited land, natural resources, livestock, and agricultural production. Total industry output in 2020 reached $8.5 billion. The Singapore food processing industry's main products include flavorings, sauces, ready-to-eat meats, noodles, deli meat, sausage, confectionary, chocolates, snacks, and beverages (including beer). Top prospective U.S. food processing ingredient products for the Singapore market include animal fats, dairy, vegetable oils, processed vegetables, tree nuts, and poultry.

Vietnam: Rice Trade - Monthly

This report provides trade data on Vietnam's monthly rice exports by grade and destination and weekly export quotes for rice by grade.
