Vaccination Milestone

As of today, more than three million Minnesotans have now received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine. The milestone comes as Minnesota's COVID-19 outlook continues to improve and the state reports the lowest number of new cases and hospitalizations since the earliest weeks of the pandemic. The state continues to encourage Minnesotans to get vaccinated and is working to make vaccines available to all who want them through community vaccination events and other opportunities. For more information on vaccination data and vaccination opportunities near you, visit COVID-19 Vaccinations.

What's New

Second Dose of Pfizer and Moderna

Two doses are needed for the COVID-19 vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna. It is very important that someone gets both vaccine doses, the same product for each dose, and that the doses are given at the correct time apart.

The vaccine works best after two doses. If someone only gets one dose, they may not be as well protected against COVID-19.

Try to get your second dose as soon as you can if you could not schedule or missed your appointment. Even if it is beyond the recommended amount of time (21 or 28 days depending on which vaccine product you got), go get your second dose. You will not have to start over. The second dose boosts your immunity to COVID-19 and provides longer time of protection.

Host a Community Vaccination Event

Interested in hosting a vaccination event in your community? We are partnering with local health departments, vaccine providers, and community partners to provide local community vaccination opportunities. Community vaccination events bring vaccines to people who would otherwise have a hard time getting vaccinated.

Completing the event request form on Host a Community COVID-19 Vaccination Event lets MDH and partners know of your interest, but it does not guarantee that we will be able to fulfill your request. Priority will be given to events that aim to serve under-resourced communities, as identified using the CDC/ATSDR Social Vulnerability Index.

Limited funding will be available to support costs for community groups selected to partner on community vaccination events.
