Arizona Reaches 6 Million Mark for COVID-19 Vaccine Doses Administered

Nearly 3.4 million people have received at least one dose; 2.9 million are fully vaccinated

PHOENIX — Arizona has administered more than 6 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine since December, with nearly 3.4 million individuals having received at least one dose and 2.9 million now fully vaccinated, the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) announced today.

"Arizona has reached another major milestone with our six millionth dose of COVID-19 vaccine administered," said Governor Ducey. "This is the result of hard work by so many ‒ nurses, doctors, pharmacists, staff, volunteers and more. Arizona is proud of the success so far and we're committed to keeping up the momentum."

"It's never been easier to protect yourself and your community by rolling up your sleeve," ADHS Director Dr. Cara Christ said. "Vaccination is safe, highly effective, free, and available by walking in at hundreds of locations across the state."

To date, 6,016,915 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to 3,385,174 individuals, including 2,884,332 who are now fully vaccinated.

Last week, ADHS announced plans to phase out state-run mass-vaccination sites, which have administered 1.6 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine, as Arizona's focus turns to increasing the number of neighborhood options, including pharmacies, doctors' offices, and pop-up clinics.

State-run vaccination sites have already started to phase out with changes to days and times of operations. The Gila River Arena in Glendale, which remains open seven days a week, will be the last site to close, on Monday, June 28.

Information about all vaccination sites across Arizona, including pharmacies, federally qualified health centers, and other locations, can be found at azhealth.gov/findvaccine,

As part of the transition to community-based vaccination, ADHS, Sharecare, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona and other partners teamed up with the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday for a family vaccination event. Participants were invited to Chase Field to run the bases and receive a free game ticket.

In addition, the One Community Initiative, in partnership with ADHS, held a second dose vaccination event on Thursday at C.O. Greenfield School in south Phoenix.
