Recipes to make for the holiday--Cook well, eat well, be well. Fresh and simple ideas for every delicious, healthy day.
When we plan our cookouts, all of the delicious salads are top of mind. I want them healthy, simple, beautiful. I get there using lots of fresh herbs, spices, excellent olive oil, and of course, very fresh produce. Most every salad on my must-make list is mayo-free: Also in the no-mayo category is lemony, minty Lebanese Potato Salad. Delicious warm or cold or room temp. Equally adored here is my no-mayo, highly seasoned Lebanese slaw. Cut the cabbage yourself for the best texture and flavor (bagged slaw goes soggy). Trust that your new family favorite is in this bowl of slaw! Also try these two picnic salads: Barley Picnic Salad with sundried tomatoes, and Chickpea and Feta Picnic Salad. Caprese Salad gets a new twist drizzled with pomegranate molasses and EVOO. Sweet-tart, not unlike traditional balsamic here. Now I'm not saying a creamy salad is off limits, especially if thick yogurt, labneh (or Greek yogurt), is the foundation. Try this crunchy cucumber salad full of herbs and flavor.
