Hello friends, and welcome to my "What I've been loving" series! The truth is, I started The Almond Eater over 10 years ago, and since then, blogging has changed a lot. I miss writing, and I miss sharing my life with you all. I'm planning to share these emails once a month, so you'll get a glimpse into my life and a few items I've purchased and enjoyed. If you don't care about my life (no offense taken), just don't open the email. You'll still get plenty of tasty food recipes sent to you! Also, I realize I forgot to post of these last month, but truthfully we didn't do a whole lot, nor did I buy anything in April. So, that's just how it is some months! Now that summer is quickly approaching, I hope to have more to share. LIFE THIS MONTH
- The month started with Miguel running the Pittsburgh half marathon! He had a goal time in mind and beat his goal time, which I find incredible considering I can think of nothing worse than running 13.1 miles (or any sort of race, for that matter) :)
- We made a trip to the DC area to visit my in-laws and celebrate my father-in-law's birthday. We saw friends, Miguel and I got to do a kid-free date night, and we saw some of his extended family too. It was jam-packed but lots of fun.
- With the weather warming up, Emmy and I had our first pool day of the year. It helps that my neighbor and friend has a pool, so we just popped over for an hour one day and dipped our toes in and it was lovely. I don't know if "dipping our toes in" counts as swimming but... I'm counting it.
- Besides DC, we also made a trip to Columbus to visit with my brother and also my best friend who lives there too. Now that they both live there, it's quite convenient to be able to see them both at the same time. We went to the park (Emmy loves a park so it's kind of a "must") and the four of us + Emmy went to a Columbus Crew game. It rained the entire time but most of the stadium is covered which is very nice.
- Last, I was able to sneak away for a dinner with a friend, which rarely happens. Adding "schedule more friend dinners" to my to do list immediately!
THINGS I LOVED THIS MONTH
- Toddler pillow: I bought her this pillow not knowing if she was going to like it, and at first she didn't. But, now she's obsessed and sleeps on it every night. It's memory foam, but some of the foam can easily be removed if you was it to be flatter, which is nice.
- White crew cut socks: These are the socks that I wear almost daily. The main reason I love them is because they don't fall down!
- Bubble lawnmower: If you want a toy that will entertain on a daily basis, get this. As I've learned, kids are obsessed with bubbles, and this is a slightly less messy way for them to enjoy them (plus, who doesn't love pushing around a mini lawnmower?!).
- Sun hat: On days when the sun is brutal but my child wants to play outside at 4 pm (aka the hottest time of day), I bust out this hat. It protects me from the sun and helps keep me cool, too.
- Jelly flats: I know I already shared these, but they're the shoes I've been wearing almost every weekend. They're a little more elevated than sandals, but still SO comfy (way comfier than I originally thought they'd be) and look cute with both pants and shorts.
That's it! Thanks for the support and happy June! -Erin
