I hope your February is off to a good start. Around here we're busy with finishing up wrestling season, crafting Valentine Boxes (my last elementary-school-kid Valentine's Day ever, end of an era!) and making sure my teens don't sneak out of school early for too many ski days π
Below you'll find a few recipes I made for my own family this week, and another installment of The Good List, where I'm sharing some of my most-used kitchen tools.
Admittedly, I sometimes get distracted by shiny things and own some gadgets that have just ended up sitting in my kitchen taking up space and collecting dust- but not these. These are things that pull their weight in my house and they might be helpful to you, too! Enjoy and eat something delicious this weekend!

What's Cooking at The Wells House
Egg Sandwiches: Requested by my youngest for dinner (he's been having them for breakfast on repeat, too.) Salted Caramel Rice Krispie Treats - a friend made these for a church activity and I recognized them instantly. Favorite! Crispy Baked Chicken Thighs - I had extra rice krispies from making these treats so I had to make this chicken recipe- I always forget how much I love this one, it was my favorite dinner as a kid.
The Good List is where I share the food, finds, and everyday favorites I'd tell you about if you were sitting at my kitchen counter!
Smasher
We call it the Smasher. I love it for ground meat, but also sticky things like doughs and crumbles. I also love the mini size for things like berries or smaller batches of guac. You may already have one of these with the sort of swirled shape. I promise you this large "+" shaped one is so much better and SO much easier to clean!
Microplane
People sometimes think there's no need for a microplane zester if they have a small-hole cheese grater but I reach for this tool constantly. Obviously great for citrus, but I use it a ton for garlic when I need an extremely fine texture to use raw.
Garlic Press
My garlic press broke after many years of heavy use and I bought a different top-rated one as a replacement. I hate it! I just re-ordered this favorite, I should have never strayed. Those little red bumps fold all the way around and pop OUT the garlic residue for cleaning and that feature alone has my heart forever.
The Best Thermometer
I don't stray from The Thermoworks when it comes to thermometers. Their Thermopen is consistently touted as the best instant-read digital thermometer in the industry, but it comes with a hefty price tag. This smaller version works just as great for me and has a friendlier price point. I own multiple for the kitchen and keep one near my grill, too.
Sticky Stuff Measuring
I reach for this measuring cup daily. It's so much easier than trying to scrape ingredients out of measuring cups when it comes to things like yogurt, sour cream, honey, peanut butter, coconut oil.... the pull-apart pieces make it super easy to clean, as well.

That said, nothing on The Good List is ever sponsored or part of a brand partnership without disclosure - these are all things I buy myself and love enough to share with my friends (that's you!)
