This August I FINALLY took Ben to Butcher & Catch, after they had moved into Cutlery Works from April this year, and I'd only been bringing him scraps of leftovers back from work - and we had a reyt meat feast!!π₯©π
I went with the Beef Frites, a favourite of mine, because I'm a BIG fan of their chilli, made with mince and big chunks of beef. The chilli is poured over a generous helping of fries, and then topped with strips of perfectly cooked chipotle seasoned steak, crispy onions, chives and lashings of chipotle mayo.
Ben opted for the Philly Cheesesteak. The steak was so tender! The grilled steak comes in a fresh milk roll, with caramelised red onion jam, melted gouda cheese (could have had more of this as we do love cheese!!) and watercress. Served with a good helping of fries.
We left fully satisfied and will be back to try more. A great choice for meat and seafood lovers, and people who aren't afraid to get a little messy with their food! THE ONLY PLACE TO GET FISH & CHIPS AT CUTLERY WORKS π
π· Spend: Approx £15pp for a VERY filling plate of food
⏰ Open Hours: Daily from 11:3am

See below, our previous visit to Butcher & Catch when they were a restaurant in Broomhill - August 2020.
An independent restaurant in the Broomhill area, serving locally-sourced meat and British fish. A down to earth venue, offering seasonal and delicious dishes with a fine-dining vibe.
Last week for our "Eat Out to Help Out" meal, and on the hottest day of the year so far, we visited Butcher & Catch. Based in the Broomhill area (street parking only), this independent restaurant has a menu that covers Meat dishes, Fish dishes, a bit of both, Burgers, Platters and a small selected of Vegetarian dishes.
The restaurant was busy when we got there at half 6 on a Wednesday night, which is great to see the discount scheme working and independent restaurants being booked up. However I think because the restaurant was so busy and it was so hot, the atmosphere was far from relaxed and it was quite loud in our dining area we could barely hear each other, which unfortunately effected our dining experience there and is why I couldn't rate it any higher this time. The food however was perfect.
We decided just to stick to Mains because of the atmosphere and the temperature in the restaurant, but we still wanted to experience as much of what the restaurant had to offer as we could so we decided to try both of the dishes off the "Butcher & Catch" part of the menu.
Beef & Scallops - Smoked and slow roasted beef cheek, Scottish scallops, beef cheek bon bon, charred baby gem, buttered carrots, pickled onion & a sticky beef glaze - The beef was cooked to absolute perfection and just fell apart and the gravy was divine. The scallop was also cooked to perfection and we both really enjoyed this dish. Definitely a dish leaving you feel pleasantly "stuffed".
Cod & pork - Pan roasted cod fillet served on a smoked ham, pea, cockle, mussel bread bean, potato & mussel chowder. Topped with a crispy duck egg & parmaham crisp - This dish was delicious! The fish just fell apart, the chowder was really tasty and the whole dish was fresh and light. I was full but without that heavy feeling, so I would absolutely order this meal or something similar again.
The drinks menu covers various wines, cocktails, gins and beers as well as a house lager and some local guest ales on cask. Ben was able to try the guest ales before he decided which he wanted a pint of and in the end tried two. I washed my meal down with a glass of white wine.
With the current discount offer the bill came to around £38 which we felt was decent for one course each and 3 drinks after discount. To pay the full price we would have been hoping for a more relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, but that could have just been our experience. We really enjoyed the food!
