How do we build shock resilient food systems?

The food security of 13 million people is teetering on the brink of collapse. Added to the 822 million already experiencing undernutrition or starvation means that nearly a billion people are underfed in 2022 - roughly ⅛ of the global population. While recent disruption to the world’s food systems stems from the supply chain pinches and the fallout from the invasion of Ukraine, longer term trends such as climate change, pose a critical threat to the future of food security to many vulnerable communities.
What are the ways we can diversify food supply to help current and future populations that are vulnerable to shocks in current food systems? As the world focuses on climate-related issues, what are some possible solutions that can be implemented to guarantee food security as temperatures change?
Join Foreign Policy as we convene leaders and experts for the 2022 Food+ Policy Summit on Dec. 14, 2022, to discuss how to marshall resources to address the current challenges to food security, and future-proof food systems by increasing sustainability and climate resilience.
