New **Vaccine Administered (CVX) and National Drug Code (NDC) Codes Are Being Added for Pneumococcal (PCV): On January 28, 2022 the CDC ACIP approved use of two new PCV immunizations, PCV15 and PCV20. Two new CVX codes and four new NDC codes were added to the CDC code sets for these immunizations. This announcement was published here: https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/71/wr/mm7104a1.htm. For Clinicians: PCV15 and PCV20 Usage Guidelines Adults 65 years of age or older who have not previously received a pneumococcal conjugate vaccine or whose previous vaccination history is unknown should receive a pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (either PCV20 or PCV15). If PCV15 is used, this should be followed by a dose of PPSV23.
Adults aged 19 years of age or older with certain underlying medical conditions or other risk factors who have not previously received a pneumococcal conjugate vaccine or whose previous vaccination history is unknown should receive a pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (either PCV20 or PCV15). If PCV15 is used, this should be followed by a dose of PPSV23.

For IT or EHR professionals: Technical Requirements and Code Sets to Be Added for PCV Changes To document your PCV15 and PCV20 vaccine administrations please add the new CVX and NDC codes below. KYIR will only read the numeric code to record the vaccine type and not text in the description.
CVX code should be sent in the RXA 5.1 and NDC should be sent in the RXA 5.4 fields.
