Arizona Department of Health Services Releases New PSA Featuring Several Community Leaders

The PSA is Part of the Roll Up Your Sleeve Campaign to Encourage People to get the COVID-19 Vaccine

PHOENIX — The Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) launched a new public service announcement as part of the "Roll Up Your Sleeve to Get Vaccinated Against COVID-19" campaign. The new PSA features community leaders, local celebrities, and influencers from several industries including professional sports teams, the faith community, non-profits, and the business community.

"We are honored that this group of Arizona leaders and influencers came together to encourage everyone in our community to get vaccinated against COVID-19," Dr. Cara Christ said. "Getting vaccinated against COVID-19 is one of the best tools that we have to reduce the spread of the virus and save lives in Arizona."

The PSA features: Dr. Cara Christ, ADHS director; Pastor Sheriolyn Curry, Presiding Elder of Rocky Mountain District at African Methodist Episcopal Church; David Adame, president and CEO of Chicanos Por La Causa; Alan "AP" Powell, founding chairman of the HEROZONA Foundation; Dr. Cecilia Rosales, associate dean of the University of Arizona Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health; John Goodie, legendary Arizona high school football coach and community leader; Luis "Gonzo" Gonzalez, Arizona Diamondbacks legend; Tom Chambers, Phoenix Suns legend; Vaughn Willis, an Arizona-based R&B musician; and Governor Doug Ducey.

The Arizona influencers PSA is part of a series of PSAs that encourage vaccinations statewide. The current PSAs are running on broadcast and cable television and social media and feature Governor Ducey, Dr. Christ, and a Spanish version with David Adame.

"I want to thank our partners and community leaders for coming together to help promote this important message about getting vaccinated," Dr. Christ said. "I encourage everyone to get vaccinated when they can as new appointments become available."
