For Immediate Release | April 26, 2021   Media Contact | Steve Elliott pio@azdhs.gov Nearly 60,000 appointments still available at state COVID-19 vaccination sites All sites have appointments, in many cases for the same day PHOENIX ‒ Tens of thousands of appointments remain available for this week at state COVID-19 mass-vaccination sites in the Valley, Tucson, Yuma, and Flagstaff. Getting vaccinated is as simple as clicking a mouse, picking up the phone, or driving to a site.  Of the 74,000 first-dose appointments made available last Friday, nearly 60,000 were still available this morning to receive the Pfizer vaccine at state sites. Locations of these and other sites offering COVID-19 vaccination are available at azdhs.gov/FindVaccine.  "COVID-19 vaccines are safe, highly effective, free, and available ‒ often on the same day ‒ at state vaccination sites serving the most-populous areas of the state," said Dr. Cara Christ, director of the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS). "We need more Arizonans to roll up their sleeves and get vaccinated to protect themselves, their families, and the community."  To date, 4,852,704 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Arizona to 2,867,481 individuals, of whom 2,162,197 have been fully vaccinated. State sites have administered 1,405,099 of those doses to 803,742 individuals, of whom 643,219 have been fully vaccinated.  Here are appointments that remained available this week at each state site for those 16 and older: University of Arizona (Tucson): 4,923 Yuma Civic Center (Yuma): 2,166 Northern Arizona University Fieldhouse (Flagstaff): 2,900 WestWorld (Scottsdale): 20,623 Gila River Arena (Glendale): 4,939 Arizona State University's Desert Financial Arena (Tempe): 6,983 Dexcom Drive-thru (Southeast Valley): 13,716   Appointments are the surest way to guarantee the shortest possible experience time, but walk-ins also are accepted at all state vaccination sites. Visit podvaccine.azdhs.gov or call 1-844-542-8201 to make appointments. Hours of operation for the call center are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m, seven days a week. Both resources offer assistance in English and Spanish. Throughout the week, ADHS makes some additional appointments available due to cancellations and no-shows.  Information about all vaccination sites across Arizona, including pharmacies, Federally Qualified Health Centers, pop-up events in specific communities, and healthcare providers offering vaccination, can be found at azhealth.gov/findvaccine. State sites offer the Pfizer vaccine, which is available to those age 16 and older. Other sites may offer the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson/Janssen vaccines, which are approved for those 18 and older.
