UK launches Myanmar sanctions

Today, the United Kingdom has launched the Myanmar sanctions regime.

The Myanmar (Sanctions) Regulations 2021 ensure UK sanctions relating to Myanmar are implemented effectively. The Regulations replace and revoke the Burma (Sanctions) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019.

On 29 April 2021 the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office updated the UK Sanctions List on GOV.UK. This list provides details of those designated under regulations made under the Sanctions Act.

23 individuals on the consolidated list have been amended and remain subject to an asset freeze.
