12-15 year old vaccination programme The first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine is available for young people, aged 12-15, this autumn. NHS England will soon be opening an additional route for this age group to get their COVID-19 vaccine through the community, such as through vaccination centres. This offer will run in parallel to the in-school vaccination programme. Parents of children aged 12-15 will receive a letter from the NHS with more information on the vaccination programme shortly, including information about how to book an appointment through the community route, if this option is preferred. Read COVID-19 vaccination: resources for schools and parents and access the "how to" guide which includes useful information and resources for schools. Asymptomatic COVID-19 testing Testing during half-term is very important and we would like all schools to emphasise this in your end of term messages. In particular, testing at home before students return to their setting after half-term will be key to starting back in the best way possible. All test results can be reported via GOV.UK. Here are some resources to help you communicate with parents and pupils: NSPCC talk PANTS: PSHE resources The NSPCC have launched their new "Talk PANTS" campaign to assist teachers and parents when starting difficult conversations regarding sexual abuse and body autonomy with young children. We encourage primary schools to utilise the PANTS schools and teachers page, which includes lesson plans, teaching guidance and other useful resources. New mental health & wellbeing resource As part of the Co-RAY project, a short animation has been developed by the University of Oxford's Experimental Psychology and Psychiatry Department. It is aimed at young people aged 11-16 years, to address any barriers they may have in seeking mental health support. This resource is available via BBC Bitesize and we would encourage you to share with your pupils. Get help with technology research - volunteers needed We're conducting research with people who use assistive technologies or have conditions or disabilities that impact how they use the internet, so that we can improve future services. We'll be holding a number of remote research sessions over the next few months, which can be held at a time that suits you and won't be more than an hour. Complete the response form to register your interest. Has this email been forwarded to you? We send this Teacher Bulletin a few times per half term, to school contacts in the Get Information About Schools database and individuals who choose to subscribe directly.
